"Entrepreneurial Regions" stands for the building and expansion of special technological, scientific and economic competences in East German regions. Its goal is the sustainable transfer of these competences to innovations, economic growth and employment.   • "Entrepreneurial Regions" - The Initiatives

    Whether in Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Saxony or Thuringia - "Entrepreneurial Regions" (German: Unternehmen Region) is active in all of the New German Länder. This is clearly illustrated in the approach taken by "Entrepreneurial Regions": it is not important where the initiatives' headquarters are located, but how they use their potentials and competences to strengthen their region's competitive ability.   • "Border Regions - Regional Foresight and Innovation Development in East Germany"

    On 20 and 21 June 2005, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) hosted an international conference to discuss the potential of systematic regional planning instruments as a means of overcoming regional development barriers. Representatives from East German as well as other European regions shared their experience on innovative regional development.
